Principal
We still remember our school principals. Mr. Mahle got on the intercom every morning and said, “This is Daddy Polar Bear down in the big igloo. Brrrr. It’s cold outside!” Mr. Dahl had sideburns and wore a 1970s-style leather jacket every day – and the 70s were long gone. Sister Sarah was one tough cookie for being such a small person. She used to live and work in Chicago. You didn’t mess with Sister Sarah.
How will the students at St. Andrew School remember you?
We’re looking for a dynamic individual to serve as the principal of our beloved school. We are a Catholic AND classical school with 234 students in Pre-K through 12th grade. And we’re growing! We are looking for someone with at least two years experience as a school principal, preferably in a Catholic school. Knowledge of classical pedagogy is a big plus.
You’ll be working closely with, and mentoring, two hard-working vice principals – collaborating on curriculum, retreats, faculty in-services, and parent-student issues and evaluations. You’ll also work directly with our bookkeeper on budgets, purchasing and financial matters. And you’ll be responsible for faculty in all aspects including, but not limited to, interviewing, in-services, professional development, observations and evaluations, discipline, and pedagogy as it relates to our curriculum.
You’ll also attend all school board meetings where you’ll present your report, collaborate and exchange ideas, and update members on any potential issues or concerns. Finally, you’ll be responsible for following up on our accreditation efforts/process, and meeting with our excellent Bishop Austin Vetter regarding our Catholic school status and other matters as appropriate.
In return, you’ll be blessed with a supportive and generous school community invested in your success, and a team of dedicated administrators, teachers and parents who work together to strengthen the Catholic and classical focus of our school.
When you’re not busy running a small country, you’ll enjoy all the amenities Helena has to offer. We’re minutes away from outdoor adventures including skiing, water sports, hiking, biking and golf. Or you can join your new friends at one of our many local restaurants, breweries and coffee shops. Take in local theatre, an event at Carroll College, or a stroll through our historic downtown. And, of course, you’ll want to celebrate Mass at our stunning Cathedral of Saint Helena.
Sideburns and tough cookie persona optional.
Apply HERE now! We can’t wait to meet you.
